The Sacred Pause: Learning to Be Still

Life rarely slows down on its own. Our schedules fill up, our minds run in circles, and our hearts carry burdens we weren’t meant to bear alone. Yet in the middle of the noise, God calls us to something radically different: Be still.

Stillness is not laziness. It’s not ignoring responsibility. Instead, it is a sacred pause — a surrender of control and a shift of focus. When we stop striving long enough to quiet our souls, we make space to recognize the truth: God is in charge, not us.

The world exalts power, wealth, and fame, but God says He will be exalted above all things. Our job isn’t to fight for His glory — it’s to trust that He already reigns. That trust begins when we learn to rest in Him.

 “Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

Let’s Talk Over Coffee

Pause intentionally today. Even five minutes of silence can reset your spirit.

Release control. Write down one burden you’re carrying and pray, “Lord, I give this to You.”

Refocus. Instead of dwelling on problems, meditate on God’s unchanging character: faithful, strong, sovereign, and good.

Closing Prayer

Lord, teach me the beauty of stillness. Help me lay down my frantic pace and anxious thoughts to rest in Your presence. Remind me that You are exalted above all, and nothing in my life is beyond Your control. Today, I choose to be still and know You are God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
